The Origin client is self-updating software that allows users to download games, expansion packs, content booster packs and patches from Electronic Arts. Users may also add certain EA games to their Origin account by using CD keys from retail copies, and digital copies obtained from other digital distribution services however, the addition of retail keys to Origin is restricted to games from 2009 onwards and older keys will not work even if the game is available on Origin, unless user contacts customer support. Origin guarantees download availability forever after purchase, and there is no limit to the number of times a game can be downloaded. Instead of receiving a box, disc, or even CD key, purchased software is immediately attached to the user's Origin account and is to be downloaded with the corresponding Origin client. The Origin store allows users to browse and purchase games from Electronic Arts' catalogs. Components Origin store Origin in February 2015 By 2013, Origin had over 50 million registered users. In 2011, Electronic Arts stated that it wanted Origin to match Valve's Steam service, Origin's primary competitor, by adding cloud game saves, auto-patching, achievements, and cross-platform releases. Origin contains social features such as profile management, networking with friends with chat and direct game joining along with an in-game overlay, streaming via Twitch and sharing of game library and community integration with networking sites like Facebook, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, Nintendo Network, and Nintendo Account. In October 2022, Origin for Windows was discontinued, directing players to the EA App, with the macOS version remaining as the primary method for users to download and play EA games on that platform. If there's any more information you need, let me know.EA, also known as EA Desktop and formerly known as Origin, is a digital distribution platform for Microsoft Windows and macOS, developed by Electronic Arts for purchasing and playing video games. So in my mind there's no reason it shouldn't work. Repair, redownload, Safe mode, disable UAC, safe download mode, as well as most options in origin's options, shutting down all your startup programs, ect. I've done pretty much everything that an average EA chat assistant will tell you. I'm using a AMD FX-8350 and a EVGA 750 TI ftw edition, running on windows 8.1 pro, if this helps. (Maybe a problem with service B?) and everything stops, and it still says install. Then punkbuster service A comes up and, again, goes away quickly. If I watch in my task manager, I see DirectX come up, use some of my disk, go away, and punkbuster comes up and goes away rather fast. When i click install, it seems to go through a completely normal installation process except when it finishes, it still prompts me to install the game where it should say play. I guess I should mention what happens when I try to install aswell. I'll try to download BF3 and see if it goes any better. So, I'm thinking it's a punkbuster issue. I once tried to install in safe mode with networking I got an error saying "ERROR: PunkBuster services cannot create a file where one already exists" or something like that. So I downloaded an app called Revo uninstaller and completely wiped the registry for origin, BF4, and anything else related to it like punkbuster, and the battlelog web plugins. The only thing I can think of is the registry thinking it's installed and preventing origin from properly installing my game. Done that at least 3-4 times? Now I'm getting frustrated. A week passed and I figured "Well, I'll just search my whole computer for anything related to BF4 and origin. I should've known origin wasn't very happy when files are moved around." I've now redownloaded the game at least 4 or 5 times. I bet if I just redownload it'll be fine. You know, things I use often to a separate, nicer looking and better organized folder than just scattered around in Program files (x86). So what's happened is one day I decided I was going to do some cleanup and move things around on my computer. So i've tried everything, from repairing the download, and completely redownloading to completely wiping anything related to origin, BF4, or just EA in general from my HDD, including my registry.
